Dear CERN Colleagues and Families,

The CERN 70th Anniversary special tournament was a great success (see results on the news: https://club-tabletennis.web.cern.ch/news), now we turn to the regular CERN championship, which is taking place this coming weekend.

Registration will close on Wednesday August 14, at midnight.

The number of participants will be limited to 70 (we cannot accommodate more people inside the club), so register early if you want to make sure to participate.

Make sure to reserve Friday evening August 16 (≥19:00) and Saturday August 17, morning (≥9:00) and afternoon (≥14:00), for this fun event!

The event should be finish by 18:00 or earlier on Saturday August 17, right after the prize ceremony and the cocktail drink offer by the club.

The championship is open to players of all categories, from beginners to advanced players. 

CERN TT championship is open to all people associated with CERN and their families, in particular to summer students.

You will be assured to play at least 4 matches. For those not making it to the main draw, there will be a consolation draw.

There will be numerous prizes, main draw (semifinalists, finalist and champion), consolation draw, first woman, and a souvenir prize for everyone.

You can train at CERN on tables at R1, R2, R3 restaurants and at the cafeteria in BLDG 774. In R1, R2, and R3 you may borrow racquets and balls from the cashiers.

You may also train at the Meyrin CTT club. Usually the club is open for training on Tuesdays and Thursdays afternoon (≥17:00), but during summer time you may have to check in advance if other people will be there. Contact a Club member to arrange to open the club if needed.

 

There is a participation fee of 15 CHF, which will have to be paid in advance in order to confirm your inscription (email to Bugra.Bilin@cern.ch to arrange payment if needed). If you have problems with this procedure, do contact Bugra.

In view of past difficulties, due to people, not showing up or canceling at the last moment, your registration will only be confirmed when you have paid the fee.

Last moment cancelations force us to redo the draw each time, to ensure a minimum number of matches for everyone. Last year we had to re-do the draw several times, which was very very unpleasant. So, please only register if you are sure to participate.
